About the location
The Southern Zen™ is a relaxing oasis near downtown Charleston and the Ashley River. Conveniently located in the hip neighborhood of Avondale on a street lined with Live Oaks and Spanish moss.
Built in 1947, The Southern Zen™'s many windows allow for immense amounts of natural light, creating an open and airy feel throughout. The cottage features a newly remodeled Chef's Kitchen and new bathroom addition with exposed brick. Three updated bedrooms with nice windows can easily be used as dressing rooms if you're a bride getting ready with your bridesmaids. The outdoor space is a Japanese inspired Zen garden including handmade natural water features, custom built seating, a custom built Japanese style foot bridge, and the option of a fire pit. A winding rock path leads to the backyard spot that we like to call "Under the Magnolia Tree." This gorgeous spot is perfect for outdoor dining, photoshoots, or just lounging in the abundant shade. There is also an outdoor shower with Japanese style privacy screen and garden beds filled with edible flowers and herbs.
